Job summary:
A Call is open for a research fellowship with the reference CEDOC/2013/13, under the project FCT-ANR/BEX-BID/0153/2012, entitled "Análise quantitativa da expressão assimétrica de genes resultantes de fluxos ciliares existentes no organizador da lateralidade", in the Centro de Doenças Crónicas da Faculdade de Ciências Médicas da Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Financed by National Funding from FCT/MCTES (PIDDAC).

Admission requirements:
1. Master Degree in Biology, Cellular and Molecular Biology or Biochemistry
2. Experience in the zebrafish model system.
3. Experience in the execution of Cellular and Molecular Biology Techniques. Previous laboratory experience in Cellular and Molecular Biology, and in Biochemistry.
4. Interest in applied research.

Work Plan:
1. Microinjection in Zebrafish embryos.
2. FACS in fluorescent embryo cells.
3. Total RNA extraction and cDNA production.
4. Microarrays data analysis.
5. Gene expression validation by Quantitative PCR and in situ hybridization technique.
6. Analysis techniques of proteins by Western blot, immunofluorescence and immunohistochemistry.

Legislation and regulations:
27 months under the regime of exclusive dedication according to the Law N º. 40/2004 of 18 August (Status of Scientific Research Fellow); Grants Regulation Research Foundation for Science and Technology, IP-2012 (http://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/regulamento.phtml).

Workplace:
The work will be developed at the CEDOC@IGC, Campus do Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência , under the scientific guidance of Doctor Susana Santos Lopes.

Length (s) grant (s):
The fellowship will have the duration of 27 months, with foreseen commencing date on August 15, 2013.

Value of monthly maintenance allowance:
The grant corresponds to 980 € according to the table of values of grants awarded directly by FCT, IP Country (http://alfa.fct.mctes.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores).

Selection methods:
Selection methods to be used are the following: curriculum evaluation and interview, each corresponding to 50% of the valuation.
