Histology Facility

The Histology Facility in the Chronic Diseases Research Center (CEDOC) of the Nova Medical School|Faculdade de Ciências Médicas (NMS|FCM), located in Lisbon, provides assistance and technical work in Histology, both for CEDOC as for external users. The facility contributes for setting up and optimizing of histological approaches for each scientific project.

Our main aim is to offer services, instrumentation and training to facilitate the production of high-quality samples for both animal model and clinical research.

SERVICES PROVIDED:
• Paraffin processing and embedding
• Automated Leica Tissue processor – TP1020
• Microtome sectioning
• Microm Microtome HM200
• Gelatin or OCT embedding for frozen samples
• Cryostat sectioning
• Leica Cryostat CM3050 S
• H&E staining and special staining (namely Gram, LUNA and Ziehl-Neelsen stain)
• Training new users for different equipment (except paraffin processing) and help them with project design

HOW TO USE THE SERVICE:
To order a service the user must fill a request available in histology tab https://next.cirklo.org/cedoc/. Our prices can be visualized in each product request or in the intranet system.
In case of self-service the equipments require an obligatory previous booking available here for cryostat and for microtome.
