During the 14th edition of the Portuguese Diabetes Congress, several CEDOC researchers were recognised for their work. Namely, Joana Sacramento, from Neuronal Control of Metabolic Disturbances: Therapeutic Strategies Lab, won 1st prize of Pedro Eurico Lisboa Award with the project “Functional abolition of carotid body activity restores insulin action and glucose homeostasis in rats: key roles for visceral adipose tissue and the liver”.
Moreover, Hugo Vicente Miranda, Principal Investigator of DysBrainD: Dysmetabolism in brain diseases Lab, won the Charneco da Costa scholarship, with the project “Stress dos açucares no cérebro: papel da diabetes na neurodegeneração”, and Ana Margarida Correia, from MEDIR: Metabolic Disorders Lab, won the Nuno Castelo Branco scholarship, with the work “A importância da Circular Dorsal Ruffles na internalização e trafego do receptor de insulina”.
The 14th Portuguese Diabetes Congress took place at the Centro de Congressos do Tivoli Marina Vilamoura, Algarve, from 9th to 11th March. Organized by Sociedade Portuguesa de Diabetologia (SPD), the congress counted with over 1000 participants.
