Today, the Portuguese Network for Active and Healthy Aging (RePEnSA) is formalized, with the aim of creating future strategies to promote quality of life in the older population.

It includes four reference centers across the country, including Lisbon AHA, coordinated by Helena Canhão, Professor at NOVA Medical School - Faculdade de Ciências Médicas and principal investigator at CEDOC, who who says in an interview with Público:

"We have to start preparing the country for the new elderly and create the conditions for retired people to remain active, but that means implementing structures that we don't have yet."
