On the 28th September, CEDOC-NMS|FCM was represented at the European Researchers' Night by researchers Inês Lima, Inês Mollet, Inês Ferreira and Rita Oliveira, from MEDIR: Metabolic Disorders lab.
On the night that science took it to the streets, our researchers explained to young and old about their work in diabetes. People were able to ask questions and learn about the basic research carried out in the lab regarding this metabolic disorder, and its connection to diseases of the liver and pancreas.
With the help of their “model rats”, the scientists also helped to demystify the use of model organisms in their research, which is sometimes still a controversial subject.
For the whole night, the National Museum of Natural History and Science, located at Príncipe Real, was the focal point of all things science in Lisbon, with over 120 activities.
