LYSOCIL @ Solidarity Day dedicated to Rare Diseases

The Dia Solidário da Maratona da Saúde (Health Marathon Solidarity Day) was held on October 30 and broadcasted live on RTP1 and RTP Internacional. The 7th edition of this emblematic day, brindging Science and Society, was dedicated to Rare Diseases, under the motto “Is the Rare that Rare?”.

The LYSOCIL project: promoting research on rare diseases with a special focus on lysosomal diseases and ciliopathies and research on rare diseases was presented at this event. Duarte Barral and Susana Lopes, coordinators of the LYSOCIL project and researchers at CEDOC explained the importance of the LYSOCIL project research in the area of rare diseases.

Moreover, the solidarity day counted with various testimonies from patients and with the participation of associations, doctors, scientists and public figures in order to raise awareness and raise donations to finance the Marathon Prizes for Research on Rare Diseases.
